Sanitizing collegiate athletic sports areas that are out of reach of the cleaning staff or can’t be cleaned with traditional products is very difficult, but it is still important to do so to reduce the spread of viruses and bacteria. While liquid sanitizers and disinfectants are great on non-porous surfaces, over time, viruses and bacteria will become resistant to these cleaners. Using an Odorox/Pyure processor is the best way to sanitize areas in a room, no matter whether they are non-porous or porous. When you are wondering how to clean locker rooms, then using hydroxyl radicals to kill viruses and bacteria in the air, vents, and on floors and walls is the best option. Because so many people die from MRSA andstaph infections, you need to thoroughly research and implement a plan for how to prevent MRSA in locker rooms and how to sanitize and disinfect gyms. Wrestlers have skin to skin contact, sharing bodily fluids, and leave their fluids on the mat, which are both great ways to spread bacteria or a virus. While athletes know that there is danger on the field, the CDC warns against infections from rugby, wrestling mats, and football fields.
It is up to you to know how to clean wrestling mats and prevent the spread of infection. According to the executive director of the National Wrestling Coaching Association, Mike Moyer, prevention and detection are imperative to stop the spread of skin conditions and MRSA. While there are some ways for athletes to avoid MRSA and other conditions, such as frequent showering and not sharing athletic gear and towels, coaches need to be involved when wondering how to prevent MRSA on wrestlers. Some other ways to prevent this disease include: Education on recognizing infections Good personal hygiene Using antimicrobial soap Covering open wounds
Not sharing personal items Recent infections of healthy players for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as well as students, have made people more aware of the issues of MRSA and the importance of preventing MRSA in gyms. It is hard to treat MRSA, as it is very resistant, and many people die from the infection. Because it is so important to know how to clean wrestling areas, schools and fitness facilities are arming themselves with education. It is very important that a specific cleaning protocol is put into place and followed for the best results. Cleaning products need to be only used in areas where they are the most needed and where they can be applied to surfaces that were touched by others. Not only should gym equipment be cleaned, but also railings, sinks, and switch plates. Floors need to be cleaned thoroughly, as well, and they can be mopped or cleaned with a spray-and-vac. Mops need to be changed regularly and the buckets sanitized to prevent the spread of disease. Spray-and-vac cleaning uses metered amounts of product that are sprayed on the floors and restroom surfaces before being rinsed. The moisture and all contaminants are then vacuumed up. Additionally, all towels and linens need to be carefully cleaned with bleach regularly, and all equipment needs to be thoroughly cleaned. There are changes that can be made to the locker room itself to minimize the spread of disease.
Individual-use elements, such as stools, are a better option than communal benches. Skip absorbent materials and instead opt for non-porous surfaces.Proper ventilation is important, as bacteria thrive in warm and wet environments. Good ventilation will go a long way in the battle against disease. All floor mats need to be removed for cleaning to allow the floor to be correctly cleaned. Ultraviolet light is a great option to kill contaminants on the floor but hydroxyl processor from Odorox/Pyure do a much more job. Frequent hand washing and not sharing personal items is the single best way to control disease spread when you are worried about how to sanitize and disinfect locker rooms. Athletes shouldn’t use equipment with open wounds to prevent the spread of disease. While most athletes aren’t worried about how to kill odors in lockers room and prevent diseases, facility operators need to reduce this risk. Make sure to use an EPA-registered disinfectant that will kill bacteria and germs and that will specifically eradicate MRSA. Read the label, and make sure to follow use instructions. Within the last 18 month, we have purchase the Pyure Odorox equipments. The units have been used for dehumidification in musty rooms and in areas need in response to COVID-19 pandemic.
I found the equipment has performed very well and we hope to purchase additional units in the coming year.
I’d like to take this moment to personal thank BioShine for introducing me to their line of Pyure Odorox equipment and the technology that will help provide reliable performance for my Indoor Air Quality throughout the years.
Respectfully,
Lania Umar, facilities Director
To Whom It May Concern:
This past holiday season, I experienced significant smoke damage in my home from an electrical malfunction in my oven, which occurred when running the oven cleaning cycle on a timer in the middle of the night?it appeared that the thermostat had stopped working, and the oven temperature just kept rising and rising. When the smoke detectors went off, I wakened and opened my bedroom door on the second floor and saw nothing but smoke in the hallway?I could not even see downstairs. There were no flames, just heavy smoke.
The smoke had traveled throughout the first and second floor of my home. A strong odor was detected in the air, and it went into all the closets on both floors, affecting most of the clothing in them. I opened the windows in the home to get cross ventilation and waited outside until sufficient smoke at exited so I could go back into my home. At that point, what remained was a foul odor from the smoke, which was from the protein in the oven as well as some of the plastic surrounding the oven.
The next day, when I went to a meeting, several people in the meeting noticed the smoke odor on my clothing and asked if I had been in a fire. This was an uncomfortable situation to say the least, as I was expecting to host family during the holiday season, not to mention the embarrassment experienced in client meetings. Anxious to remedy the odor problem I contacted Odorox Air Technologies (OAT) in Basking Ridge NJ to see if their Odorox equipment might be able to help my situation.
The guys contacted a local Paul Davis restoration firm, who agreed to operate the Odorox hydroxyl generators at my home to assist in the clean up. Felipe Rodriguez ("Phil") from Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling followed the instructions given to him by Odorox personnel, and in a matter of just a few days successfully removed the smoke odor from my house (most of it had dissipated after just one day). Paul Davis had installed three of the Odorox machines on the two floors as well as a number of fans to move the air through the house.
Besides the obvious benefit of eliminating the smoke smell, I appreciated not having to leave my home during the clean up process?that is because the clean-up process does not use any ozone, which would not have been safe to be around..
It also was interesting to note that the local Maryland Paul Davis folks, having not heard of this hydroxyl technology, were very skeptical of its ability to work. When they came and installed the equipment (shipped to them by Emerald), they said that they could come back the next day with their own equipment to take out the smoke that the Odorox equipment didn't do. When they came back the next day, they were truly amazed at how quickly most of the odors had already been removed much faster than through their more traditional methods they became believers literally overnight. And given that this technology did not require that I vacate my home and dry clean my clothing, treat carpet, etc., they were more than impressed.
Unrelated to the smoke damage, Phil found some mold in my basement (it was from a water leak a few months earlier). I had mentioned that the Odorox equipment could kill the mold spores as well. So once the smoke cleanup was done, and following consultation with the Odorox personnel, I moved one of the Odorox units on the job to my basement to deal with the mold. I am pleased to report the mold is gone with the help of the Odorox and additional clean-up from the restoration crew.
As a business owner and building professional who works with commercial and institutional facilities managers facing odor, mold and other indoor air quality issues threatening their companies, I can say with a great deal of confidence that the Odorox hydroxyl technology will eliminate these types of problems faster and with less disruption and at a lower cost than other previously available means. A big thanks to Odorox!
Sincerely,
